Dickerson D. MEZICK who married Sally BEDSWORTH ca 1816 in Somerset County, MD. Earlier, there was a Sarah "Sally" BROWN who married 1810 to Thomas BEDSWORTH in Somerset County, MD. Could Sally BROWN and Sally BEDSWORTH be the same person? Consider the following.... Dickerson and Sally are believed to have fled MD after Dickerson escaped from jail on a kidnapping charge and by 1830 had settled in Dekalb County, GA (and then in Tallapoosa County, AL by 1840). Their children included: Wyley, Mattie, Jane, James, and Harriett. One or more descendants from these children have recorded Dickerson's wife as Sally BROWN. This is also recorded in records a MEZICK/BROWN researcher submitted to LDS. As a result, if Sally was indeed a BROWN, it would lend credence to the fact that the Sally BEDSWORTH who married Dickerson in 1816 had been already been married prior to her marriage to Dickerson. Can anyone shed any light on this possible connection between Sally BROWN and Sally BEDSWORTH? David
