Does anyone have any information on the Joseph Hackney Family that moved to Tallapoosa County, AL in 1830's from Monroe County, TN. It was a large family. Joseph's son, Samuel, died in Tallapoosa County abt. 1841 and was buried there. William Land Hackney, son of Samuel, was born there in 1839. Joseph & Family lived in the vicinity of Hackneyville on a creek where he and his sons built and operated a grist mill. In 1850, Joseph Hackney age 65 and wife, Ellander, still resided in Tallapoosa County. We do not know whether they died there or moved. Joseph was my ggg-grandfather, Samuel my gg-grandfather, William my g-grandfather. If I were to make a trip to Tallapoosa County to search for information and grave sites, where should I start looking for information. Thanks for any help. Ernestine Reeder
