Here is what I found: UMPHREY, Wm. w m 53 GA Sarah 53 GA Ann 22 Al Jessie L. w m 18 Ala ==== next door was: Umphrey, Wm Jr 28 GA Jane 23 Al Charley 3 Ala ?Mary? or Charry? 3/12 b. in March. Next to this family was William Whitehead, age 45, Sarah, 43, ?Walter? 21, Marietta, 18, Rachel, 12, and Henry, age 9. Could this be Susan's parents? ====== Ok, the census of 1860 spelled the name HUMPHREY, listing these children: of William (H) Umphrey John H. b. 1851 GA married Susan Whitehead (children: Brady, John, Sude, Robert, other possible children...Charlie and Della...this I have not proven) William b. 1853 GA Thomas b. 1857 GA Cicaly b. 1857 GA Sarah Ann, 1860 AL The last son, Jesse was b. in 1861 Does anyone recognize this family? ( William Humphrey had a grandson who owned and operated a funeral home in Sylacauga, AL.) Any info would be greatly appreciated.
