    1. Evans, Redden, Simmons in Walnut Hill
    2. I am looking for information of the Evans families who first appear in Tallapoosa County in the 1840 census. My ggg-grandfather, Walter Evans, was married to Barbara Redden. According the the 1850 census, Walter and Barbara were both from Georgia around 1820. I also have some indications that Barbara was either a Cherokee or Creek Indian. Walter later married Mary Simmons--I don't know what happened to his first wife. Walter lived in Walnut Hill. The later descendents of Walter moved to Notasulga, then to Covington County. In 1840, the only Evans who appeared in the census for Tallapoosa County was Jeremiah Evans. The 1850 census shows the following heads of household--George, Crawford (Elijah C.), Elizabeth, Jeremiah, Lewis, and Walter. I strongly suspect, although I cannot prove, that Jeremiah is Walter's father and that some of the others are his brothers. I would appreciate any information that anyone might have to help me put this puzzle together. I am particularly interested in finding out the following information: 1) Was Jeremiah Evans the father of Walter Evans? 2) Where is Georgia did these families come from? 3) Was Barbara Redden a Native American? 4) Who were Walter's sisters and brothers? 5) Where are Walter and Barbara buried? 6) What happened to Mary Simmons Evans, his second wife, after Walter died? Where is she buried? Thanks, Carl Evans
