    3. Ray offered to do look-ups in Good Hope Baptist Church (located Elmore County, formerly in Tallapoosa Co.) records 1847 to 1868. Myra Johnson wrote: Ray: Do you have the actual church records? I live in Tallassee near the church and have relatives buried there who were members of the church. I was not aware the church had old records. Snip... Ray answered: Myra, I have copies of part of original church records. About 25 years ago, I visited the church and met the serving church clerk (my great and my great great grandfathers were both church clerks at Good Hope in the mid-1800s). She had the original records in her home which was within sight of the church. They were in several of those old leather ledger books about 8 inches wide and 14 to 16 inches in height. I persuaded her to loan them to the Alabama Department of Archives and History in Montgomery. I paid to have two copies made, one of which I placed in the archives in Montgomery. I have the other copy. I assume (I pray!!) the originals still exist. Snip. Ray
