    3. Hi Paul and Glenda, I tie into the Cosbys in Hannover Co. Va. in 1759 with Sarah Carr Cosby that married William Claybrooke. There is a lot of confussion about this marriage and I have been unable to prove anything. I do know that in that area of Virginia there were very close ties with the Cosbys, Wingfields, and Carrs. About the Claybrooks; I have traced a Claybrook that married a Sarah (?) I believe, across Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia into Alabama where I lost them, or at least him. She turned up later in Alabama with more children carrying the Claybrook name. They were dirt poor as she was working as a domestic and the children could not read or write. At that point my subscription to Ancestery ran out and I have not renewed for lack of time to utilize the resources. These Claybrooks are of a different clan than those in northern Alabama as they spell their name with an (e) and is the branch that I descend thru. The "Alabama branch" as I refer to them have a very different version as to how they came to the Colonies. They claim that their forefathers came by ship landing in North Carolina, and later ventured to Alabama. Additionally I have heard of a Claybrook burried in County Line Cemetery in 1733. I have been unable to place this person and know he should not have been there from Virginia. There is a long story about orphans that has been only speculation. Also, it has been suggested that some Claybrookes were killed by Indians in the 1680's which could explain him being there and make him one of the long lost orphans. I have bent your ear enough for the time being so will quit for now.
