A James H. Beard was a bondsman on the marriage bond for my great-grandparents, John William Adams and Nancy Jane Howell. This was in 1865 in Tallapoosa County. Also, a James Henry Beaird married Sarah Jane Adams in Tallapoosa County in 1857. My guess is that this James Henry Beaird is the same person as the James H. Beard who was the bondsman.
