Yes, that sounds like the entrance to the cemetary if it is on the Old Dadeville Road. This general area was referred to as Oakfuskee during the Civil War (there was a Post Office by that name nearby-not to be confused with the Creek village of Oakfuskee a little further down river). Since the lake was built it is now referred to as Peckerwood. There used to be a sign up saying that a key can be signed out at the Probate Judge's Office at the court house in Dadeville. If not, the cemetary is just a short walk up the road about 100 yards. Suspect it is very overgrown, I cleared it one Fall back in the early 1990's and marked some of the Confederate Soldier's graves there. Some of the concrete markers had been damaged by timber cutting operations back in the 1980's. http://www.hillabee.net Greg Wilson ----- Original Message ----- From: <JCrane6990@aol.com> To: <altallap@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 23, 2006 4:08 AM Subject: Re: [ALTALLAP] Old Liberty Cemetary > Is this the cemetery that has a locked gate across the entrance road? > Jeanette > Be sure to check out the Tallapoosa Co.
