    1. INVITATION TO THE TERRELL-PITTMAN-HARRIS-EVANS-REEVES-VESSELS REUNION 2006
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: TERRELL-PITTMAN-HARRIS-EVANS-REEVES-VESSELS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SU.2ADI/2330 Message Board Post: Weldon & Rena Pittman, the host and hostess, of the annual PITTMAN & HARRIS reunion in Brownwood TX have declined to host another reunion. That reunion is for ALL descendants of: James Alfred PITTMAN & Letty EVANS and for ALL descendants of: Pickens Earle HARRIS & Drucilla SIMMONS. I volunteered to host one next year, provided it is held in Alabama, close enough for me to do so. Mr. Dennis Camp, of north Alabama has agreed to help as much as his health permits. The location for this reunion is the old Grammar School, Rockford, Coosa County, Alabama near where most of the PITTMANS lived prior to moving to Texas. One daughter, my ancestor, Rebecca Ann PITTMAN TERRELL remained in Coosa Co. One son, Marion PITTMAN remained in Tallapoosa Co. AL, which joins Coosa. Dates are Fri. through Sun., June 9, 10, & 11, 2006. This is about half way between Memorial Day and July 4th so it should not conflict with your holiday plans. Except for lost time from power outages following hurricane Katrina or other disasters, all schools should be closed by that time. The weather won't be as hot as it will be later in the summer. Motel accommodations are available in (Beginning with closest): Alexander City, AL; Sylacauga, AL; Opelika, AL; Auburn, AL; Montgomery, AL; Birmingham, AL & Columbus GA which are all within reasonable driving time. For those who plan to fly in, the most economical fares will be to Atlanta, GA. Rental car from there will probably be less than a shuttle flight to a nearer location. Motor home and camping sites are available in Wynn Creek State Park near Alexander City, AL. Wynn Creek (part of the Alabama State Park System) also has swimming, picnicking, hiking, and other activities if you can stay long enough to enjoy them. At present, I am considering staying in this park the week before and part of the week after the reunion. Since most of the PITTMAN & HARRIS descendants live in TX and west, I anticipate that they will have as much difficulty getting to Alabama as I had getting to Texas for previous reunions. In order to make this reunion large enough to be worth the effort, I am expanding it to include: all descendants of John TERREL, who d. Henry Co. GA 1828-29 ---- His Children: Ignatious TERRELL (01/11/1808--04/22/1873) & Mary Martha HAMBRICK Landrum (11/07/1806--03/04/1883) lived in Pike Co. GA; Absalom TERRELL (07/20/1813--09//1888) & Margaret VESSELLS (03/08/1809--01/04/1868) b. GA, daughter of Thomas VESSELS & Sivility HEARNE/HURSE; Absalom & Margaret lived in Henry, Carroll Co. Mary 'Polly' TERRELL (04/25/1800--05/16/1878) & Tinsley HEATH (02/17/1788--04/29/1859); lived in Pike Co. GA & Alabama Rebecca TERRELL & Unknown TURNER; untraced. Margaret TERRELL (c1803--1850+) & Moses? MULKEY (c1798--1850+); lived in Pike & Lee Co. in GA. John TERRELL (c1811-1860+) & Millery? Molley? Nellie? VINCENT (c1813--1860+) [lived in Henry & Pike Cos. GA, no children in any census, but he is included here in case we missed someone]; All descendants of John EVANS who d. Tallapoosa Co. AL ca1846 and his wife Luvenia REEVES (parents of Letty EVANS Pittman, wife of James Alfred PITTMAN); An open invitation is also extended to all members of the TERRELL SOCIETY OF AMERICA, INC, and all members of the Coosa County Historical Society & The Rockford Council of Arts & Crafts. The latter maintains the building that I have reserved. I need to know if you plan to attend and how many you are bringing. I will welcome your input as we finalize plans to make this as enjoyable as possible for all who attend. I can be reached by phone at 229-377-6458; or by email at either: pawpaw@syrupcity.net or through the TERRELL SOCIETY web site below, and by mail at the street address below. 3. Have you checked Winn creek since the hurricane displaced people were housed there? You might want to have someone visibly check it for obvious reasons. ----- Original Message ----- From: <pawpaw@syrupcity.net> To: <ALTALLAP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 19, 2005 10:04 PM Subject: [AL-TALLAPOOSA] INVITATION TO THE TERRELL-PITTMAN-HARRIS-EVANS-REEVES-VESSELS REUNION 2006 > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: TERRELL-PITTMAN-HARRIS-EVANS-REEVES-VESSELS > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SU.2ADI/2330 > > Message Board Post: > > Weldon & Rena Pittman, the host and hostess, of the annual PITTMAN & > HARRIS reunion in Brownwood TX have declined to host another reunion.
