    3. No Edens in 1850 or 1860, Lots of Thorntons in 1850 but non in Chambers in 1860. The county divisions probably put them into Tallapoosa or another county that was in the change of lines. ----- Original Message ----- From: <KHolt1946@aol.com> To: <ALTALLAP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 26, 2006 6:01 PM Subject: Re: [AL-TALLAPOOSA] Griffins/Bentons/Cox > In your book, is there any information about the Thorton family? or Eden? > > > Looking for THORNTON history.......and info on Adelah H. > EDEN........Adelah > was the daughter of Reverend James G. 3. I have the CHAMBERS Co., AL books by John Peavey Wright. The 1840 lists Willis Benton and a Rebecca Benton as Heads of HH. There are William and Joel Griffiths as well. All have lare families. There is also a William E. Cox with one F under 5. 3. Becky, No, I am still trying to tie all of this together. I think we have spoken of this before through the Burdette lines. Minnie Griffin who is listed married James Andrew James son of James Andrew James and Amanda Burdette dau of Richard T. Burdette and Jane Walker. I have been trying to find out who the Jordan girls are and what the connection was in 1880 before Thomas married Nancy. I would like to find out who the parents are of the Jordans. --- Becky <rec@hiwaay.net> wrote: > Rose, > Do you know anything about these Jordan's listed > 1880 census for Oak Bowery? > > Thanks, > > Becky Carden > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Rose Kinney" <rosekinney_1@yahoo.com> > To: <ALTALLAP-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, February 26, 2006 3:04 PM > Subject: Re: [AL-TALLAPOOSA] Griffins > > > > Paul and/or Glenda, > > Yes, I am trying to research Griffins in > Tallapoosa > > Co. > > > > I am looking for any information or even hints of > > information on the following Griffin's. > > > > 1850 Alabama Tallapoosa County Township 24 > > Griffin James 48 M Farmer GA > > Elizabeth 30 F GA > > Sarah Jane? 14 F GA > > William 24 M GA > > Green 23 M GA > > James 15 M GA > > Thomas 16 M GA > > > > ? 3. Janice, I'd be interested in finding out more about your Davis family in Tallapoosa Co. Do you know where they originated? I have a Temperance M. Davis, b. 1812 in Georgia, who married Henry Tanton/Taunton in 1828 in Montgomery Co., AL. They settled in Tallapoosa Co. by 1850, and lived there the rest of their lives. According to their family Bible, Temperance was the daughter of Vincent Davis and Izora Tanton/Taunton, so Temperance and her husband were cousins in one way or another. Vincent Davis is found in Washington Co., GA in 1820 with 3 females under 10 and 1 male under 10; unfortunately, I don't know the names of any of the other children besides Temperance, and I can't find any other info on Vincent Davis. Since Temperance married in AL at age 16, I assume she moved there with her parents, but I can't find any record of Vincent Davis in AL. Perhaps Vincent died shortly after the 1820 census, Izora remarried, and Temperance moved to AL with her mother and unknown step-father? Anyway, I was wondering if you might recognize any of these Davises, or if you think they might tie together somehow. 1. Green Horsley
    2. Jack F. Shotts, Sr.
    3. Green Horsley b. 1831 married Mary A. H. Davis 2 Jan 1858 in Tallapoosa Co. I do not have a date or place of death for either of them, nor do I have a DOB for her. The name of her Mother was shown in the last ALTALLAP-D which I received, but no info on her Father. Would appreciate it if someone would send the info on both parents to include the DOB, DOD and Place of death if known. You may send it direct if you wish. I have information on one of the Davis Families in Tallapoosa Co. This family might be connected. My connection to Tallapoosa Co. is through the family of James Anderson Gamble and Mary "Polly" Bennett. In case someone might wonder there were two James Anderson Gambles in Tallapoosa Co. at about the same time and they were cousins. Have a great day, Jack F. Shotts. 3. yes, this is Green V. Horsley... Mary was the daughter of Sarah "Sallie" R. Moon, dtr of Stephen Moon and Mary Frances "Fanny" Phelps and Sallie was a sister to Thomas Jefferson Moon. The Moon connection is why I have continued the search. Still wonder how Sallie's two Davis husbands are connected to our Davises. Plus one of Green and Sallie's daughters, Mary Ann, married a Davis.......John Welbam Davis (b. 3/25/1867) One of their other daughters, Susan, married a Finney......another connection to the Pool/Ross/Davis/Moon. And, all searching always seems to go back on every line....the ones who marry into the family, etc......to Tallapoosa County.
