Hello List, Regarding William Swindle\Swindell, where did he come from before Tallapoosa Co. AL? I have a William Conine who married Eliza Swindell, 1840 Greene Co. GA. William and Eliza probably moved to Tallapoosa Co. shortly after they were married, they had two children that I know of, William and Albert born between 1841 and 1843. Swindell\Swindle is not a real common name, just wondered if your William and my Eliza might be connected. THANKS ANY INFORMATION, SHEILA

I do have a small amount of information on Amanda L. Swindle who married a Wiggins. Amanda was in fact the daughter of William Swindle and his first wife, Harriet Elizabeth Busby. I am a descendent from William's second marriage. William references Mandy Wiggins in his will. The will is available online if you search for "William Swindle will". Hope you get this, and it helps!

I would like to find an obit and/or will for William Green (or Green William ) McDaniel died June 7, 1916 in Tallapoosa County and his brother, Willis McDaniel died May 30, 1900, also Tallapoosa County. If anyone on list has access to newspapers, will books, etc. I would greatly appreciate their help. This brings up a point about genealogy research and a chance for me to thank all the wonderful researchers who have shared their information. Much of the information on the McDaniel line I am interested in came from another line (Satterfield), and unfortunately there is no one alive to tell us the sources of that information. There must be documents out there, but so far, we (McDaniel researchers) can not find them. So frustrating. That is why it is so important to have these sites, like Tallap and why it is so important to share info and documentation. I have so many cards and notes with snippets on info-some of which would be hard to decipher by someone else. This frustration of trying to piece together Mr. Satterfield's sources of info has been a wake up call to me to GET ORGANIZED so that when I am gone, the info about my family will be safe and clear. I would appreciate hearing about how others are organizing their data, as well as any info on McDaniels. Thanks, Nancy

Their fields and cribs have been [burned] by your people, who have driven them to the woods without an ear of corn,... The Red Sticks are nearly all Killed... My warriors can no longer hear my voice: their bones are at Talladega, Tallushatchee, Emuckfaw, and Tohopela." So did Red Eagle, war chieftain of the Red Stick Creeks, bravely speak to General Andrew Jackson in surrender. Red Eagle begged proudly, not for his life but for the victims of bloody war, suffering hunger, the widows and orphans fo Red Sticks slain in battle with white armies. Jackson, or " Old Hickory," was stirred by the courage of the chief, and moved by his care and sacrifice for his people. Jackson shouted to soldiers who wished to kill Red Eagle, "Any man who would kill as brave a man as this would rob the dead!" I have read there were only eleven counties that are listed listed in the 1855 alabama state census. Were the records for the other counties lost or were they never taken?
