I don't know who James Moore is but my ggg grandfather George Moore was in Tallapoosa in the 1850 census married to Polly and we have been trying to get more information on him. We think he was born about 1793. We believe he may have come from the family of George Lane Moore. My William Jasper Carter's parents were Richard Wilkins Carter and Elizabeth Davis (I think that's her last name). Jasper was born 14 Mar 1837 in AL. I have found my Carter's in Talladega, Tallapoosa, and Clay Counties in AL. I know it doesn't seem to be a match but I'll go ahead and list what I have. William Jasper was married to "Prity E" (that's what it looks like to me on two different census). They had three children - Sara Alice (married George Heard), Thomas R (my husband's greatgrandfather), and Frances Elixabeth "Fannie" (married a Fuller). If you'd like more info, let me know.
Hello! I am still a member of AOL but have not been able to access my email very often. I moved to Blount County (Ala.) back in January and have recently bought a place in North Blount County near the Cullman and Marshall County lines. It looks like my local phone line will come from Arab, Alabama. Below are the current mailing addresses for reaching me by snail mail. If ever in the area, feel free to stop by and say ,"Hello." If traveling through Blount County, you take Hwy 231 North through Blountsville and through the intersection at Hwy 278 (Rainbow Crossing). You turn immediately LEFT on State Hwy 67 and my house is 1.7 miles on the LEFT. Larry E. Caver, Jr. 1861 State Hwy 67 Blountsville, Alabama 35031 (or) Larry E. Caver, Jr. P.O. It is on US Hwy 49 North, just north of Horseshoe Bend entrance. Before New Site. Going north, it is on the right side of the road. ----- Original Message ----- From: <JENJERKEV@aol.com> To: <ALTALLAP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 06, 2006 4:09 PM Subject: [AL-TALLAPOOSA] Haemony Cemetery > > > Can I get driving directions to this cemetery? Surnames: DRISKELL / ROWELL Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SU.2ADI/2382 Message Board Post: I believe Peter DRISKELL may have come from the Brunswick County, VA or Greensville County, VA area and moved to Lowndes County, AL (which is just west of present day Montgomery, AL). He was a neighbor of my gggg-grandfather Howell ROWELL around the mid-1820’s according to land records. Howell ROWELL and his wife, Elizabeth WALTON had moved from Greensville County, VA around 1823 after their son Albert Henry ROWELL was born. They are both buried in Roxanna, Lee County, AL (this area used to be Tallapoosa County, AL). Their grave markers say they came from Greensville County, VA (which is in the area that came from Brunswick County, VA. After the Creek Indian lands became available around 1830, they moved to what is present day Macon County, AL. Antioch United Methodist Church in Macon County, AL was organized as a Methodist Protestant Church sometime in the early 1830’s. The first place of worship was under a “Brush Arbor”. Peter DRISKELL helped found this church. Albert Henry ROWELL grew up and married Tabitha Clementine DRISKELL, who was a daughter of Peter DRISKELL. Later, they moved to what is currently Macon County, AL. They had a son Robert William ROWELL, which is where my line comes from. Albert Henry ROWELL and Tabitha Clementine DRISKELL moved to TX with their younger children and settled around 1865, after the Civil War. They left their grown son Robert William ROWELL in AL. I believe Peter DRISKELL may have moved from the Greensville County, VA or Brunswick County, VA area around the early to mid-1820’s too, because that part of AL did not start becoming populated until after 1814, because it was Creek Indian territory. I suspect they may have moved to the Fort Deposit area of Lowndes County, AL where a lot of early settlers moved for safety against the Creek Indians. The cemetery at Antioch United Methodist Church, which is still an active church, is filled with the same names that earlier appeared in the Greensville County, VA and Brunswick County, VA land records. I believe a lot of families moved to AL around the same time. If you have any information you believe we are connected, or are researching the same family, please contact me at thunderstruck1@comcast.net. I would be happy to share any information I may have.

Wednesday, September 9, 1885 Page Third In Memory of Mrs. Mattie R. Johnson The departed wife, mother, sister and friend, was born in Tallapoosa County Alabama, Jan. 17th, 1853. Her father removed to Milltown in Chambers County, where she was raised, when she was quite young. She removed to Dale County, at about the age of fourteen years. She became a member of the Baptist Church at Union, under the Ministry of Rev. Caswell Smith, in the summer of 1868. She was married to her now bereaved husband, on the 1st day of September 1870, and departed this life in great peace on the 1st day of September 1885, having lived with her husband fifteen years to a day. She was rational to the last of her life. A short time before passing away, she called husband, children and friends to her bedside, and bid them all a last farewell, exhorting her little children to live right and meet her in Heaven. She was happy beyond the power of expression, and has gone to the blessed immortality of the faithful, where the wicked cease from troubling and the weary are at rest. She was the youngest of a large family, father, mother, three brothers and five sisters, preceded her to the grave all victims of that dread disease consumption.
