Joan, You might want to try the Alabama GenWeb page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~algenweb/. There is a link to the Tombstone Transcription project. You can follow the links to the page for Tallapoosa County, where you'll find a few cemeteries which have been transcribed. I will be making a unexpected trip to Tallapoosa county tomorrow, Thur. March 25. I have never been before so could someone tell me what libraries would be most helpful for genealogy. Also, my ancestors William D. and Malinda Walton Dunn lived in Dudleyville according to 1860 and 1870 census records. There is no Dudleyville on my map. Does this place no longer exist? If not, does anyone know where it was located? What existing town was it near? Thanks in advance for any help. Vickie Garmon
If anyone has access to cemetery information for Tallapoosa, I would very much appreciate a look-up. I am looking for Henry N. Jones born 1820. He died after the 1860 census. His wife was Huldah A. Jones. I believe she died in Dekalb County, AL. Thanks so much! Joan Green
Can anyone look up the 1860 census and find ZACK WALLS and his wife ADELINE JONES WALLS? I need to have ages, year of birth and place, as well as any children which the census may show. Thanks. Nell Truitt
I also thought it was interesting -- in the Jackson Parish Book pg 77, it references a J. A. PHILLIPS as becoming postmaster at Vienna on Feburary 14, 1853.
I'm sorry to get your hopes up high. I thought if Pleasant had lived in the Jackson Parish area (which apparently he did according to your records), that his name (or his wife's name) might appear in the Jackson Parish Book (brown), copywright 1982 published by the Jackson Parish Chamber of Commerce. His name was not in the book; however, not many of my relatives were either, when I know for a fact they helped found some of the surrounding churches around Chatham, LA. Keep looking and posting his name. Also, it seems I remember some reference on the internet that if you thought your relatives were from Northern Georgia (and possibly Ala) to look also in the Carolinas. It takes time to research all this stuff out, but that is what is fun about genealogy -- one giant puzzle! Good luck. Cheryl
Dear Dennis, Any form of the name Pearson can be considered a match, since phonetics were used to spell names, and nothing formal was considered necessary. Therefore, check for the name under spellings such as PERSON, PEHRSON, PEIRSON, PIERSON, etc. I have Rachel PEARSON married to Joseph RHODES. Rachel was born in about 1767/70, not sure where, and she died 29 Oct 1845. we believe she died in Lawrence Co., Alabama, but have no proof as of yet. Her father was Sullivan PEARSON, who was born in about 1736, and died before 1800. I don't know locations for any of Sullivan's vital statistics. Good luck with the search! To what area or town of Louisiana did PHILLIPS move? Thanks!
Can someone tell me how the PEARSON families connect and where they came from. Could this be a variation of PIERSON ... possible Lincoln County, North Carolina? Dennis
Would the ALTALLAP Listowner please post the "Virus Alerts" policy of this list and all Rootsweb mailing lists so all subscribers can read and understand? Thank you
A few days ago, I sent out an email, trying to focus attention on the Happy99.exe worm virus. I sent an hyperlink for people to read about it. It wasn't my attentions to make people think they were receiving the virus. I just wanted everyone to understand more on it. I still receive that attachment daily, and a lot of people do not realize that its an worm attachment, and you don't even realize it is attached to your outgoing mail, once you have DOWNLOADED and OPENED the Happy99.exe . It seems my email has been circulating through other lists, questioning who I was etc. You can not get a virus just by READING email. It has to be an attachment that you have downloaded and opened. I am sorry if this has caused you problems. Deanie Humphrey
