Ok, today I spent more time at the genealogy library in Mobile, AL. I am even more confused now than what I was before I went. Here is what I found: UMPHREY, Wm. w m 53 GA Sarah 53 GA Ann 22 Al Jessie L. w m 18 Ala ==== next door was: Umphrey, Wm Jr 28 GA Jane 23 Al Charley 3 Ala ?Mary? or Charry? 3/12 b. in March. Next to this family was William Whitehead, age 45, Sarah, 43, ?Walter? 21, Marietta, 18, Rachel, 12, and Henry, age 9. Could this be Susan's parents? ====== Ok, the census of 1860 spelled the name HUMPHREY, listing these children: of William (H) Umphrey John H. b. 1851 GA married Susan Whitehead (children: Brady, John, Sude, Robert, other possible children...Charlie and Della...this I have not proven) William b. 1853 GA Thomas b. 1857 GA Cicaly b. 1857 GA Sarah Ann, 1860 AL The last son, Jesse was b. in 1861 Does anyone recognize this family? ( William Humphrey had a grandson who owned and operated a funeral home in Sylacauga, AL.) Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Deanie Humphrey Other Alabama Surnames: Wilson, Turberville, Melvin, Morris, Mckinley, Bohannon, Varner, Joyner, Whitehead, Stabler Louisiana Surnames: Galle, Perdue, Gatzman, Olsen, Trosclair, Causey, Leinard/Leinhard/Leonard Mississippi Surnames: Galle, Causey, Jackson, Floyd, Boles, King, Missouri Surnames: Perdue, Leonard, Absher

Dear Cemetery Researchers, I am writing to give you an update on our work regarding The Historical Atlas of Alabama, Volume II: Cemetery Locations by County. Allow me to first thank everyone who has contributed to the project thus far. I apologize for not being able to personally respond to every submission. We have received hundreds of submissions so far and it would not be humanly possible to respond to each contributor. While our work is not complete, the end for this edition is in sight. Some people have asked if it is too late to submit information. This is an ongoing project and as such we welcome submissions at any time. While your information may not find its way into this edition, it will be included in future editions of the Atlas. Once the Atlas becomes circulated publicly, we fully anticipate new submissions and corrections. We consider this edition to be the beginning, rather than the end, of the cemetery atlas project. We have kept track of snail mail and email addresses and will make you aware of the availability of the completed book. Publication is still several months away. Once again, my thanks. Regards, Craig Remington Director, Cartographic Research Laboratory University of Alabama cartlab@bama.ua.edu
I'm looking for any information about a Kenneth Britton Brazzell born in 1905 in Alabama. His father was W. A. Brazzell (William Ambros) born 3 May. 1870; d. 6 May 1940. W. A. is buried at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Talladega, AL along with his wife, and Kenneth's Mother Minnie Belle Ponder born 24 Apr. 1874 in Talladega, AL; d. 1 Sept. 1952 in Talladega, AL. Kenneth was married to a woman named Cora ? and I've been told he bought a farm in Alexander City, Tallapoosa Co., Alabama. What year, I don't know. He had 3 children. A daughter and 2 sons. Not sure if there were more children. He had a brother named Richard Owen Brazzell born in 1907 in AL. He died of Leukemia probably in New Jersey. He moved to Paterson, NJ. What year, don't know. He worked there at a cottonmill. He married a woman named Bell and she died of cancer, then he married a woman named Betty, probably the Elizabeth Brazzell I found on the SSDI listed as being born 23 Mar. 1896; died July 1977 in Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey. I've been told they had no children. Kenneth had 2 sisters. One was Othela Brazzell born 5 June 1909; d. 9 Dec. 1915. Buried at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Talladega, AL And the other was my Grandmother Tabitha Christine Brazzell born 14 Mar. 1911; d. 22 Dec. 1995. She is also buried at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Talladega, Alabama. She married William Edward "Bill" Freeman If anyone has information on this family, please contact me. I would love to find relatives. Phoebe Phebelyn@aol.com

I am interested in the following people living in and around Troup Co, GA and Tallapoosa Co, AL. James WILLSON (WILSON) born 25 Nov 1784 in GA or SC and died 24 Aug 1880 maybe in Carrol Co, GA. He was married to Sarah CAMERON on 11 May 1830 in Jasper Co, GA. I found reference of a James WILLSON who married folks in Troup in the 1850's. James may have been a preacher. Benjamin H. WILLSON (WILSON) born 11 Jan 1790 in SC or GA and died 5 Apr 1849 in Coosa or Tallapoosa Co, AL. He was married to Susannah CAMERON, sister to Sarah. I also found reference that a Benjamin H WILSON married folks in Tallapoosa Co, AL in the late 1830s and 1840s. Three of Benjamin's son (Benjamin F, John G, and Thomas H) were living in Tallapoosa Co in the 1850 census. Their mother Susannah was living with B.F. B.H. and Susannah's children were: Sarah Ann b 1816, Robert b 1817, Virginia Emeline b 1818, John G. b 1820, Nelson b 1824, Benjamin Franklin b 1826, Thomas H b 1828, and Susan E b 1829. Does anyone have info or leads about this group of people? Any records to be found or had concerning preachers in this area during these times? The final resting place of B.H., either Coosa or Tallapoosa Cos? Thanks again folks and good luck and good hunting in your researches...john lowery
