The N G stands for 'not given'. The 0 indicates HOH not employed. The 4 is the number of employed people in the household (other than HOH) and the 5 is the number of unemployed people in the household (other than HOH). So evidently in 1900 William was not working, although Julia was a dress maker. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There were 4 daughters, one of whom was a Julia, age 5. This William A was a farmer at that time. I found the same family again in the 1900 census, living in Camp Hill, Tallapoosa Co., Alabama. Julia was 25 and a Dress Maker. Another daughter, Carrie, age 26, is listed as a BookKeeper. William A Jones occupation was listed as (what it looks like to me) M (or N) G 0-4-5 and I have no idea what that might mean. I found the same family (all ages agreed) in Kirkwood, Dekalb Co., Georgia in the 1910 census. In the occupation column, it states 'none' for both William and Laura C, both of them are 68 yrs old, which agrees with previous age info. Julia, age 34, also shows 'none'. I did not find William, Laura or Julia in the 1920 census. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I was told by family members that my Great Grand Father worked as postmaster for Camphill Al. post office with his daughters help. His name was William Anderson Jones, his daughters name was Julia Lou Jones. He was married to Laura Celestia Forman Jones. I haven't been able to confirm this or find any information on them in Camphill Al. Thankyou in advance for any help you can give me. The family was headed by Elizabeth Johnson (40) and included Charlotta Johnson (24) William Henry Johnson (21 My Great Grandfather) and Elizabeth Johnson (18). I suppose because no male was listed as head of the family he was dead. I would very much like to find out the name of that man, William's father. I do know the father was born in Virginia.
