I agree. The three wise men were probably representatives of the Resh Galusa, the leader of the Babylobnian Jews. At this time there was a verry large population of Jews in Babylon, a cultural and academic center second only to Jerusalem itself. The Resh Galusa was the leader and was a direct descandant of King David. The hereditary office of Resh Galusa existed in Babylon until sometime in the 1200's, I believe.
