I have in the past had the same situation here's what I have done 1) Import the GEDCOM file 2) Add the people who are the same in the GEDCOM to the proper parents in your file. 3) Now decide which of the duplicate people you are going to keep and copy any information (including children) from the one to be discard to the keeper one. 4) Then I change the name of the one to be discarded to Next male or Female and break the link to the parents. When I add a completely new person I reuse the Next Male and Female records. Before you do the merge you might want considering getting a copy of the program called GenMatch from Mudcreek and compare the GEDCOM with a GEDCOM of your file to identify all possible matches. Jim
