    3. When did Rootsweb start to allow advertising on its message boards? I had thought that advertising was not allowed. Rootsweb community guide lines states " Don't post commercial messages, fee-for-service postings, advertising or related links, etc. " I see that many of the Minnesota counties were greeted with this and similar today. <http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.stearns/3349/mb.ashx> Phil Holm

I would say that Rootsweb abuse reporting and a note to Rootsweb help probably did the trick Case closed. For now! Phil Holm

The snag is, anybody can sign up, post an advert, then unsubscribe to almost any number of lists before they get found out. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, TBH. -- Regards _ / ) "The blindingly obvious is / _)rad never immediately apparent" Drums quite good, bass is too loud, and I can't hear the words Sound Of The Suburbs - Members

I'm > surprised it doesn't happen more often, TBH. we volunteer adminstrators delete / conceal such messages as soon as spotted http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.stearns/mb.ashx if a big or neglected case or not on one of our own boards we use the report abuse button by the reply button see EG http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.stearns/732/mb.ashx add the text attention staff if seriously problematic to gain knowledge why not volunteer to help with a board or two the rules http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/aup.html >> Volunteer to be an Admin There can only be one administrator for each message board. You will know if the board you would like to administer is available, by looking in the "What can I do now?" box. If there is a link to "Volunteer to Admin" that means the board is available to "adopt." If the link is not visible, the "Board Information" link will tell you who the current admin is. To volunteer, click on the "Volunteer to Admin" link. Please read carefully through the information and select "submit" to volunteer. Your request will be reviewed by the board staff and you will receive an e-mail confirmation that your request to volunteer was granted or rejected. << Hugh W -- For genealogy and help with family and local history in Bristol and district http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Brycgstow/ http://snaps4.blogspot.com/ photographs and walks GENEALOGE http://hughw36.blogspot.com/ MAIN BLOG
