Hello all, i'm looking for information for my mother family and have hit a wall. The hard facts are from the 1901 canada census http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/View.jsp?id=110148&highlight=28&desc=1901+Census+of+Canada+page+containing+Philip+Gates Gates Philip Head b May 1 1862 France Immigrated 1868 Naturalized 1884 Gates(nee Glover) Sarah Wife b Aug 5 1859 Ireland Immigrated 1886 Gates Charles Henry Son b Apr 17 1894 Canada My mother claims Philip was born in Alsace - Larraine and went to Philadelphia, he met Sarah there and married. Philip had brothers and a sister also in Philadelphia. Sarah was a maid for a wealthy Philadelphia family. Then they immigrated to Canada. I have look on the web for any in for Philip and can't seem to find anything else. I have queried the Castle Garden website but have had no luck, perhaps the record hasn't been added to the database yet.
