ATT/SBC is run through Yahoo, the very worst ISP in the world. ATT and Yahoo are two separate companies, although in your case, they have an agreement to jointly provide certain services to their customers. As far as I am aware, Yahoo does not do connections, nor do they provide usenet access although they do provide their own groups, which are different from usenet. ATT provides the connection, and once you are connected, you don't have to use Yahoo if you don't want to. You can change your home page, and get a free email address elsewhere if you prefer. Feel free to email me if you don't know how to do this. My ISP also has an agreement with Yahoo, and I use their webmail, because it has excellent spam filtering, and over about four years, the mail servers have only been down once, that I am aware of. Maybe there was another time when I was on vacation, but that's less than a month a year, so that still seems like reasonable reliability to me. My ISP does not provide usenet servers, and I use a separate service for this purpose. If your problems are of the connection variety, your problem is with ATT, not Yahoo. If you have good connectivity, but problems accessing the Yahoo portal, Yahoo groups, Yahoo calendaring or your webmail, then Yahoo is the problem. Looking at your headers, it appears the news servers belong to ATT. > -- Jane
