    3. alt.genealogy has been buggy for over 5 days. Always making me re-enter user name and password, then still not connecting. What a pain. Does any one know whom the actually host of this newsgroup is?

    3. The problem is with your internet provider and not with alt.genealogy. However, to answer your question, googlegroups owns/controls the usenet newsgroups, so if you have difficulties getting the newsgroup via your internet provider, then you can go to googlegroups, search for alt.genealogy and read there. I think you have to register with googlegroups in order to reply to a message, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Be warned that if you do go to use alt.genealogy via googlegroups, you'll see a heck of a lot of spam. Cathy Michael Kenefick wrote: > alt.genealogy has been buggy for over 5 days. Some of the ATT/SBC usenet authentication servers have been misbehaving, they have been currently taken off line, and are being worked on. Things should be back to normal soon.

What a pain. Does any one know > whom the actually host of this newsgroup is? I've had no problems with the group. I use two different newsservers because one is playing up. It's telling me there is only one message in a particular group while the other says there's 248, which is correct. It's more likely the newsserver that's causing the problem since you're being asked for your name and password continually. You don't seem to be using a newsreader such as OE. If you were, I'd suggest that it had become corrupted in some way. I'd get on to your ISP or whichever newsserver you are using and ask them the same question: not the bit about who hosts the newsgroup though. I think that's been answered already :)) -- http://home.comcast.net/~webact1/Collingridge/
