I just tuned into this list, and am amazed at all the crap that's being posted to sell TV equipment, HDTV services, and the rest. No moderation here, apparently.

Alt.* newsgoups are typically unmoderated. The only moderated genealogy newsgroup that I read is soc.genealogy.methods. I seldom see spam here thanks to an extensive set of filters.

Go set your filters. I get very little spam because I filter out certain words and phrases. Does wonders!!!
