The Ancestry.com index for the 1911 Canadian census lists a COWIE family in Quebec, Maisonneuve district. The head is William Cowie, born 1883, with wife Ethel, born 1891, and son Edawil (sic) born 1909. I have looked for this family myself, using every spelling variation or corruption I could think of, with no luck.
