If he did, there will be a page in the file showing names and addresses of heirs/beneficiaries and you can order a copy of that by mail. Also think about trying to find information about Noella's date of death and place of death so you could search for HER obituary notice to see if there is any mention of children there. I would be checking the probate files at the county courthouse to see if the grandfather had a last will and testament and if he did, there might be a page in the file that mentions the settlement. With this being so far back, however, you will be lucky if the courthouse keeps records that far back (sometimes they can be found on microfilm), but most courthouses do not keep files this old because the paper would deteriorate. If an out of court settlement was reached, here would be no lawsuit and therefore no court records. Even if a suit was filed, all the final documents may say is that the case has been settled and it is therefore dismissed. A final settlement doesn't have to indicate the terms or sums paid. A case that goes to jury verdict will specify the jury award. You need to check records in the county where the accident happened. Most of them have an index. You would be lookling under civil cases (as opposed to criminal, juvenile, etc.). Check what court records have been filmed by the LDS for the jurisdiction where he died.

Funny, though, how the meaning of the label has changed over time - used to was that a liberal wanted _less_ government, not more, lower taxes (because of less government), not more. From Webster on-line: liberalism; especially : of or constituting a political party in the United Kingdom associated with ideals of individual especially economic freedom, greater individual participation in government, and constitutional, political, and administrative reforms designed to secure these objectives. Now we have Liberals as proponents of the "Nanny state", tax-and- spend, government intervention everywhere, in ever segment of society and of life in general. Liberals, in the US, at any rate, tend more toward socialism than toward liberalism. Go figure. The question in Nobember, will be which is the lesser of two weevils: McCain or Obama. I am able to access the database at home through my local library. Mike Hi Mike, For starters I'm looking in NJ prior to 1985. So far the only one I did find that carried dates prior to was the New York Times & that did not help me. I was being hopeful this database, the one you had mention, would also carry dates prior to 1985. A library in my area has this database but you can only access it from their library. That is the reason I ask you what years this had before I made the trip there, only to learn it doesn't go prior to 1985, in any state. Other states of interest are NY & Mass. Thanks for responding back. Diane

She happened to mention where she was christened in the course of being interviewed by a newspaper reporter, and I decided to put it in my database. Apparently Legacy thinks centenarians should be dead. Of course, Mom never has let what the world thought bother her much. :-) -- Jane

Godfather(mother) are two people (close to the parents - relatives or friends) who play a role in the baptization ceremony (originally). The bond between Godfather(mother) and child is of a more sentimental kind and manifests often by thinks like the child being invited for holidays, getting presents at birthdays and New Year. Godparents are especially obligated to help raise the child in the Faith and in life in the event of the death of one or both of the parents. However, throughout the Catholic birth records of South Louisiana the term "Sponsors" is used. It is not unusual to find two male sponsors for a boy or two female sponsors for a girl. In the old French-based churches, the terms Parrain and Marraine were also sometimes used. English is a very flexible language which can have several meanings for the same word, depending upon how it is used. Nowadays, yes. But it can also mean (from the Free Dictionary at http://www.thefreedictionary.com); 1. One who assumes responsibility for another person or a group during a period of instruction, apprenticeship, or probation. 2. One who vouches for the suitability of a candidate for admission. 3. A legislator who proposes and urges adoption of a bill. 4. One who presents a candidate for baptism or confirmation; a godparent. 5. One that finances a project or an event carried out by another person or group, especially a business enterprise that pays for radio or television programming in return for advertising time. -- Regards _ / ) "The blindingly obvious is / _)rad never immediately apparent" I don't believe you have to be an idiot to get somewhere these days Bombsite Boy - The Adverts
