Would SKS have a look and see if you can find Panko Pidsrikowny in any of the census records? I found him in a WWII registration, but had no success finding him anywhere else. I found the SS death for his wife Justyna. His son John died during WWII in Italy. Two other chidlren were Joseph and Pauline. I have found William Kuligowski in the 1920 census, and his wife Eva's death but other than that was not very successful. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. The lady who is looking for these names has no idea whether she has any relatives or not. Thank you Bonnie

Thomas was born 14 April 1883 probably in Jackson Co. Missouri. His family was from VA but lived in Mo for 5 years before returning. His occupation was a tailor. Sadie was still in Richmond in 1910. I found her in the city directory but not on the census. Her daughter's name was Vernette.

I read the Chancery Court case filed in Richmond Circuit court. Thomas never appeared tin court to defend himself, so Sadie was awarded custody of her daughter and granted a divorce on grounds of "desertion and abandonment."

You don't say how old he was so its difficult, but there are two Lester THOMAS's in the 1910 census. One is 30 the other is 20. When you have a first name as a last name it is easy to reverse them and become a new person. In reality though, if he really abandoned them and didn't want to be found, you won't find him. If he fell victim to foul play you won't find him after all this time either. -- Gene Y. n2kvs Researching Young, Zies, Harer & Cox with Legacy Family Tree http://h1.ripway.com/egptech/

If he really didn't want to be found, have you considered that he might have left the country. Have you checked Canada? Of course, his other obvious course of action could have been to change his name. Lesley Robertson

There is some meaning in the words "abandoned his wife and infant daughter." How do you know this is what happened? Do you actually know more than that he simply disappeared? Do you have any reason to even believe he was alive after 1908? What was his occupation? Did he travel to other towns where he might have died unidentified? Or maybe his wife killed him and buried him in the basement.
My uncle was in WW1, but is not listed on a WW1 draft registration that I can locate. I presume that if he enlisted at the beginning before draft registration went into effect that he never registered. Therefore, if I am correct, your relative could have served without registering. His wife Sadie was granted a divorce and custody on grounds of desertion in 1911. No one ever heard from Thomas again- not even my grandpa. I can't find him on 1910, 1920 or 1930 censuses. He was in the age group to register for WW1 draft but he's not there either. Any other suggestions on how to track down an early 20th ancestor would be appreciated. Thanks to all. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

What was his birthdate and place? This information would be helpful in assisting your search. I did a quick search on Sadie Lester in Richmond, Virginia in the 1910 census, was she still living in Richmond then, and what was her daughter's name?

Thomas Jefferson Bob and Gerry, With your help, I have nailed one place down in Germany. Thought something sounded familiar. Went through my old files, and found a Memorial card sent from Germany in 1915. this was on the death of Herr Ferdinand Conrady. This was Wilhelmina's father. Mourning relatives are shown to be in Saarbrucken, Rudesheim, Gerol-stein, MOSELKERN, Texas (North America). Looks like Wilhelmina (my grandmother) was born in Moselkern. Still working on the Pessarra birth location in Poland. We had always understood that he came from Loetzen, East Prussia; now Gizycko, Poland. But we have one right. Thanks again.
