    3. Would like to hear from folks who have marriage records from around 1901-1910. I'd like to order a record from 1907 but I'm interested in bride & groom's birthplace and parents. If the records only give parties' names and date of marriage they would be of no use. Thanks

    3. Benjamin Lucus, ae69, his wife Lyddia [sic], ae44 and 2 children appear in the 1900 U.S. census for Humphrey Township, Cattaraugus Co, NY. Lidda [sic] S Lucas, widow, ae54, appears in the 1910 U.S. census for Sardinia, Erie County, NY living with her daughter and son-in-law. Can someone assist me in determining when and where Benjamin Lucas / Lucus died. Did he move to Erie County prior to his death? A reliable source has reviewed the 1905 NY state census for Cattaraugus Co and came up empty. He is reportedly not buried in Humphrey. Thank you Alex

Nada. > That doesn't sound too hopeful if no trace at all shows, I've seen "stale" information for people who have died a few years ago but no info at all IME is usually followed by finding that they are long gone. Depending on how far away you are searching from, you could try :- -family graves (if any known) -spouses who might also have since died, an obituary could refer back to the first death -records of wills etc. which IMU will in the USA be the same as elsewhere, being associated with the last residence - some people avoid the usual set of records by dying on holiday or while doing something else away from home. They avoid their local death records but the disposal of their estate does not generally avoid the local court records. -local newspaper records - the availability is rather random and even 1986 is still a bit prehistoric for many computerised indexes but card indexes could exist in local history libraries. -old telephone directories, mainly to give a date to assist searching other records. Don't forgot the delay between someone disappearing from the local system and the next up-to-date edition. Is there a good reason to suspect that they have managed to die anonymously or is it more likely that they have not died where they had been settled ? One common way of achieving the latter is simply by going to live with children in another area.
