I've got one that needs some serious dusting that I've just moved out of my way again & would love to donate to a good cause. I bought it 10 yrs ago at a garage sale- I don't see myself doing any more microfilm reading at home. [I'm near Schenectady, NY- my email is good. Once you get it right, it may continue to work OK. Also try any other lens or magnifying glass you come across. One thing that might help, would be to tape a single layer of white paper over the end of the flashlight. That would act like a diffusor, and might even-out the illumination of the film. Unfortunately it also reduces the amount of light reaching the film. What the home made reader is trying to duplicate, is a film projector, much like an enlarger. Since digital photography has made the amateur darkroom somewhat obsolete, you should be able to find a good deal on a used film enlarger. I see them fairly often on Craigslist.com. You might luck-out and get one for free. I haven't looked at EBay, but they should be available there as well. Fred

Olen saanut kuulla, ettei riitä apulantaa edes Suomen sokerijuurikaskasvattajille. Siksi on tyydyttävä korvikkeisiin, kuten Oulun bio-haukuttuun typpioksiduulisalpiatariin.

At least, for the men, it is a good source. May get some blanks at times, and take more than one phone call, but, if I can find them in the USA, and distant cousins in Germany and South Africa, it has got to be reasonably good. http://infobel.com/en/world/index.aspx And, for the women, if you can find marriage and/or children's birth info, you can use the boys to locate the mothers. Phone book once more. Good luck, and if you can't find someone, send me an email directly, and I will see if I can help you. Joe (The Telephone Man) in Texas

[...] Back in the 1950s the media took a "how sweet" attitude when a young Hungarian refugee married couple (wife under 16, husband just above, if I recollect correctly) had their baby baptised in the UK. As I remember it, the main point about Jerry Lee Lewis was that he could have left his wife behind rather than flaunting her, even after he had been told that intercourse with her in the UK was against the law. And it was not his fiirst marriage.

If it was legal and the women considered themselves wives, then I call them wives - it's not for me to judge them. Most software allows the listing of a succession of wives without the inclusion of dates of death, divorces, etc. BTW the uproar was because of her age, 16 being the UK minimum for marriage, or even sex. Cousin marriages are perfectly legal. Lesley Robertson
