    1. Re: 1930 Census Lookup request: Ward A Wornell in Pontiac, MI

    3. Here's the citation for that household: Source Citation: Year: 1930; Census Place: Pontiac, Oakland, Michigan; Roll 1017; Page: 8A; Enumeration District: 70 It appears that the enumerator started to write it with a "W" and then put the "C" over it, and the indexers went with what looked to be the bolder letter. If you're certain of the last name, I can go in and make a correction - it'll still be indexed as "Wornell", but with the notation that it could also be "Cornell". Not a perfect fix, but better than nothing. Take care, Cathy David Cornell wrote: > I would be very grateful if anyone with an Ancestry subscription could > find me the census page for: > > Ward A Wornell (born abt 1885) in Pontac, Oakland, Michigan; > with wife Mayme and son Morris. > > I am looking for a Ward A Cornell, and I suspect that "Wornell" is > either a trsnscription error or the census taker misheard the name. > > Thanks in advance, > > David Cornell

    3. I would be very grateful if anyone with an Ancestry subscription could find me the census page for: Ward A Wornell (born abt 1885) in Pontac, Oakland, Michigan; with wife Mayme and son Morris. I am looking for a Ward A Cornell, and I suspect that "Wornell" is either a trsnscription error or the census taker misheard the name. Thanks in advance, David Cornell

I just sent you the image. Looks as thought the enumerator wrote a C over the W but the indexer didn't capture the surname accurately. ---- [email protected] http://sakionline.net/familypage

The second URL, very interesting indeed, so they do have this US Directory!! Meaning at the library. Now I'm wondering why I couldn't find it. Now for sure I'll have to go back & see if I can find it. I did click on the URL above also & tried different names, nothing was available. Very disappointing! I was not aware the library edition & either did the librarian know it is different, than the original Ancestry site. But glad to find out that it is & it wasn't me doing something wrong. Thank you for your help. Diane

    3. Hello Diane Sorry, I just re-read and I got it back words. You check at home then try at the library. Still with my Library, I get many US Directories. It could be different library subscription levels? Have you asked the local library persons for assistance. I know most are eager to help. As a test (if you are not already), don't do the global search. Select only the database wanted from the 1st page. Or click on the link to show all databases then find the directories. 3. Hello Diane, Maybe your Library has something different than mine, but I get city directories all the time. Even for unique names they may not be much of a resource. Some of the ones I found only listed an address and occupation. My expectation is that since you are trying from home, W/O a subscription you are not able to access the pay records. 1. Question About Ancestry Databases
    2. DianeLeMasson
    3. Hi This is actually concerning Ancestry Library Edition at my library. Since I do not have a subscription I sometimes research Ancestry at my library. After checking the newest databases from my computer I wrote down what I needed to check out & to research. I actually map out the steps I need to find them again. U.S City Directories was one of them. I could not find it. It was not listed in the, Genealogy Databases Posted or Updated Recently, list, at my library. Either was the other database records I was interested in. However they are listed on their on line site, Ancestry.com, I check again when I got home. I made no mistake, I copied it correctly so have no idea why I couldn't find them at my library. Does anyone know, is it possible Ancestry Library Edition & Ancestry.com are different? I did try to find out on my own searching through Ancestry, I wasn't able to find anything pertaining to this. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Diane
