Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Al/Sumter/10413 Surname: ------------------------- A Scott family listed in the 1850 census appears to have lived near present-day Emelle in north Sumter County, roughly just across the state line from southeast Kemper County, MS. Although the censustaker did not identify where the families on that page of the census lived, I know that two of the families (Dillards and Willinghams) lived near Emelle. As you can find from the 1850 census, the family was headed by Susan C. Scott, age 45, and born in VA. The following children were listed, all born in VA except the last, who was born in AL: Isabella M. age 16 Catherine J. age 14 William age 13 Walter age 11 Virginia age 9 I recognize that this Walter would have been too young to have fathered children as early as 1850, but he certainly would have been old enough to have fathered your twins Alexander and Regina in 1858. Best of luck! Joe Stegall
