I am looking for the parents of John Phillip(s) Wilkinson who was born in Sumter County Oct. 20, 1840. In 1861 he was in Vicksburg, MS., where he enlisted in Wirt Adams MS Cavalry with which he served throughout the war. Following discharge he apparently returned to Gainesville and then migrated to Walker County, Texas. He had a sister, Rhoda, who also was in Walker County after the war. Wilkinson married Sarah Jane Foster, whose sister married Joshua Leonidas Wilkerson (note difference in spelling) who served with John W. although he enlisted in Mississippi in 1863. He also returned to Gainesville after discharge, according to his service record. Would be interested in connecting to any of these three, and especially their parents. love joan
Hi Joan - Do you know if John Phillip Wilkinson had a sister named Jane who married Joshua Carroll?
