In response to query on Sumter CO rootsweb - I think Emma Eliza Parker is the same as your Liza Parker. Henry Farris Cherry was Eliza's husband. He is was living at the "Old Solder's Home" in Biloxi (Jefferson Davis Home/Beauvior) when he died. He had served in the Civil war and was therefore entitled to this benefit. He is buried there, but under the name Hugh Chaney. Several of us "Cherry" relatives have made attempts to get the correction made without luck. I sent Henry Civil War papers to Beauviour several years ago. They should have this on file. I have the name of Guilford Parker married to Priscilla Farmer as parents to Eliza and siblings. Where did the Walch - the 1850 Sumter Co AL census listed Guilford. I'll be interested in hearing more! The Cherry-Joyner connection is as such: Mary Etta "Mollie" Cherry, dau of Henry Cherry & Eliza Parker, married Wm Burton Joyner, both are buried at "Old Boney" cemetery in Geiger, AL.
