Would like to correspond with any descendants of John F. Busby born 1797 in South Carolina and resided in Sumter Co 1830 - 1860s. Thanks, Elizabeth Graham Chatterjee Dallas, TX
Would like to correspond with any descendants of the Swilley families that lived around Boligee or Gainsville at Swilley's Bend on the Tombigbee. These would be the descendents of Samuel A. Swilley born SC 1797 and his brother, Jaradore Swilley born SC 1799. Thanks, Elizabeth Graham Chatterjee Dallas, TX
Would like to correspond with descendants of the Johnstons who immigrated from Northern Ireland to Greene and Sumter Counties. The brothers were William Bear Johnston born 1792, David Caufield Johnston born 1800 and George Johnston born 1802. They were a family of merchants and most of their male direct descendents were also merchants. Thanks, Elizabeth Graham Chatterjee Dallas, TX
Will like to correspond with descendants of the three emigrant brothers who settled in Greene and Sumter Counties in the 1820s. They were John Greenlee, Joseph Greenlee and William and emigrated from Northern Ireland. Their sisters, Mary Greenlee married to Thomas Castles and Jane Greenlee married to Alexander Breathwith came with them, along with the Calvert families. Elizabeth Graham Chatterjee Dallas, TX
Mary Margaret, I suppose that you know that the tombstone of Nathan Cockrell, buried in the Old Side Baptist Church Cemetery in north Sumter County, states that he was co-founder of the SAE Fraternity at the University of Alabama. I do not know whether that means that he was a co-founder of the fraternity, or co-founder of the chapter at the University of Alabama. I assume that it meant the former. Joe Stegall
The surnames that I'm interested in are Tucker (Thomas Jefferson b. MS 1842) Truelove, Estes, and Woodward. Anita
Elizabeth: Have you resolved the relationship between John F, Busby and Shepperd, William, et al? Have tried to find more of Sheppard but keep coming up to a dead end. Dottie

Hello Marlene, Thanks for the info about James A. SLATON in your family. I really don't know how they might be connected to my family. I have a g-grandfather whose name was James William SLATON and that name has come down through my family. My g-g-grandfather was named Augustus Marion SLATON who married Sarah SLOAN and James William was their son. I can't go back any further with any authority. Please keep in touch--we may connect yet! Thanks again. JUNE <jmmjsm@aol.com>
