Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but from the 1700's on up until abt.1824 didn't the Creek & Cherokee Indians still hold the exclusive settlement & hunting rights to the territory now included in St. Clair Co,AL...? If so, I don't imagine that white folks were too welcome to 'live' (squat) there. Passing through was one thing, but not living there.
