My grandmother, who was born in Pell City, moved to TN then KY after 1930s. I would be interested in the early history of this area.
IT was all of the east side of Alabama and the West side of Ga (most of it), in 1832 when they signed the Treaty, about 50 Chiefs took land in Alabama, then when the US changed it mind and The Trail of Tears - I have a deed that was from one of the Chiefs in Opelika, Lee County, Al. If you wanted to cross IT, you had to have a passport. delilah ----- Original Message ----- From: <NatrLvrnMT@aol.com> To: <ALSTCLAI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 30, 2006 12:53 AM Subject: Re: [ALSTCLAI] RE: AL History | | In a message dated 3/29/06 8:50:37 PM, dixiepeanut@comcast.net writes: | | > from the 1700's on up until abt.1824 didn't the Creek & Cherokee Indians | > still hold the exclusive settlement & hunting rights | > | | My ancestors, the McLendons/McClendons, moved there sometime around 1850 and | continued to live there..
