This obituary was in the St. Clair Times, St. Clair Co., AL., Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006. James "Melvin" Ash Branchville--James "Melvin" Ash, age 83, a life long resident of Branchville passed away Nov. 14, 2006. He was a member of Branchville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a WWII Veteran, retired from ACIPCO after 44 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lumous and Nora Ash; brothers and sisters, Vera Moore, Callie Hall, Freeman Ash, Lena McBrayer, Walter Ash, Mabron "Doc" Ash, Aileen Talton. He is survived by his sister, Molcie Dobbs, and Hester Weger; and his brother, Clifton "Kip" Ash. Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home. burial was in Branchville Cemetery. Brother Keith Marriott and Church Ash officiated. Nephews served as pallbearers. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds directed the services.
