This obituary was in the St. Clair Times, St. Clair Co., AL., Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006. John Vincent Harkins Ashville--John Vincent Harkins, age 85, passed away on Nov. 6, 2006. Retired from GATX after 25 years of service; member of Pinedale Baptist Church; Veteran of WWII with the U.S Army; retired as a Fire Chief with the Pinedale Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Harkins; duaghter, Judy Grimmett; sons, John Vincent Harkins II and Clyde Harkins. Survivors include his duaghters, Mary Jane Calhound (Larry Grimmett), Pauline Cusimano (Benny), and Arline Schill (Randy); sister, Gloria Vaccarella; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Service were Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Brother Nathan Albano officiating. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directed.
