This obituary was taken from the St. Clair News-Aegis, Thursday August 10, 2006. Foster Runyans Funeral services for Mr. Foster Runyans, 64, of Ashville, Alabama were held Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Usrey Chapel in Pell CIty with the Rev. Marlin Cox and Brother Paul Pollard officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemeteryin Ashville Alabama. He was a faithful and loving husband of 43 yr., and a loving son and brother. He was dedicated to Our Lord, to his family, and to his community. He was baptized in AUgust 1953 at the Greensport Baptist Church. He was a member of Greensport Baptist until he moved to Atlanta GA with his wife, Patsy and joined the North Avenue Church of Christ, where he served as Youth Director. Mr. Runyans proudly served 6 yrs. in the Army National Guard. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Hapeville, Georgia after 30 yrs of service. Mr. Runyans love of his family and community was evident in the selfless ways he gave to them. He spent the last four yrs traveling weekly to Atlanta GA to help care for his mother-in-law. He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Shoal Creek Fire and rescue, his home community. Mr. Runyans enjoyed life and enjoyed traveling. He had vistied all but two states in the U.S. He liked to fish and enjoyed playing with his many nieces and nephews. He was a dedicated sports fan and often visited the local high school ballgames. Mr. Runyans will be greatly missed by family and friends. He will forever remain in our hearts. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Pollard Runyans of Ashville, AL., his mother Della Runyans of Ashville, AL; his brothers Bobby (Joyce) Runyans of Fayetteville, GA and Hubert (Jane) Runyans of Ashville AL and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Tommy Hobbs, James Pollard, Terry Minton, Tommy Wilson, Donald Mitchell, Terry Bryant, Michael Runyan and Johnny Galloway. Honorary pallbearers were Shoal Creek Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Usrey Funeral Home of Pell City directed.
