This obituary was taken from the St. Clair Times, St. Clair Co., AL Thursday July 13, 2006 Pell City----Cheryl Williams Switzer, 55, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 8, 2006. Cheryl is survived by her husband Stephen H. Switzer. Their relationship of 34 years was filled with tremendous love, support and affection. They were sailboat buddies, dog lovers, business partners, antique collectors, travelers, artisans and always best friends. Cheryl devoted her heart and soul to her family, her businesses Switzer's Custom Woodworks, Cafe Avanti, and the Catholic Church. She truly had an unselfish heart and always considered others before herself. For those who knew Cheryl, were truly blessed by her presence. SHe served and led worthy causes, such as volunteering at the Christian Love Pantry and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church for many years. She was a Eucharistic Minister and assisted with the CCD- Catholic Children's Development. Cheryl's legacy is prevalent in her children Chris, Elisa and her grand child Carly. With her support and guidance, not only has her family benefited from her wisdom and guidance but all those who knew her. Cheryl dedicated the last few years of her life to her restaurant, Cafe Avanti. As with everything that Cheryl touched, Cafe Avanti blossomed in the successful restaurant that it is today. She managed with a talented sense of creativity and compassion. She saw her employees as human beings and treated them with great respect. To her employees and all who knew her, she was more tan a business owner, she was a mentor and a friend. Cheryl was a dynamic woman who was a gift from God and will be truly missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Cropwell on Friday, July 14, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jose Maliekal officiating. She is survived by her husband, Stephen H. "Steve" Switzer of Pell City; daughter Elisa S. Murphy and husband Joe of Raleigh, NC; son Christopher S. Switzer & Finance Tricia of Pell City; sister Ann Graham and husband Walt and childrenSarrah and Elizabeth of Gulf Shores; brother George Williams and wife Donna and children Jason, Brent, Andrea and Ryan of Atlanta Ga; father H.H. "Sonny" Williams and his wife Pat of Pelham; grandchild Carly Murphy of Raleigh, NC; Mrs. Switzer is preceded in death by her mother, Zoe Robbins Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church,4906 Martin St. S, Cropwell Al 35054.
