Andrew O. Harkins Alexander CIty--Funeral service for Mr. Andrew O. Harkins, age 87, was Saturday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at Millerville Baptist Church. The Bro. Leon Washburn officiated. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Harkins passed away on Thursday, June 29, at Chapman Healthcare Center. He was born on January 16, 1919, in Clay Co., to Andrew Jackson Harkins and Ethell Olive Bailey Harkins. He was a hard worker and loved football, baseball, and NASCAR. He is survived by his wife of 66 yrs, Fannie Sargent Harkins of Alexander City; son Doyal (Barbara) Harkins of Leeds; daughters Alice (Reid) Hodges of Sylacauga and Brenda (Bobby) Saxon of Alexander City; grandchildren Dale Crice, Kristy Sanford, and David Harkins; great grandchildren Jordan Harkins, Jonathan Harkins, Aleah Harkins and Savannah Sanford, brother Joe (Shirley) Harkins of Ashland; sisters Reather (Bill) Morton of Ashland and Odell Johns of Goodwater and sisters-in-law Ann Harkins of Ashland and Jean Harkins of Goodwater. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mitchell Harkins and Leonard Harkins and sisters Mozelle Harkins and Marie Denney.
