This obit was in the St. Clair Times, St. Clair Co., AL June 15, 2006 Sterrett-Funeral Service for Mrs.Doris C. Howard was Monday, June 12 @ 11 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church. Mrs. Howard taught school for 15 yrs as a teachers aid; taught Sunday School at Beulah for approximately 40 yrs. During WWII she was issued a defense certificate and was principle at Vandiver Elementary School. She worked on B-24 bombers during WWII. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Howard is survived by one son, Barry Howard of Sterrett; two daughters, Jean Ingram of Lincoln and Judy Rhodes of Hueytown; one brother Alvin Chruchwell of Sterrett; 5 grandchildren, Stephen Allison, Julianne Wells, David Rhodes, Brain Rhodes and Lisa Marie Pate; one great granddaughter Courtney Wells. She was preceded in death by her husband A.B. Howard. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City directed the service.
