What names are you hunting, I have a book of some of the people who went thru AR and into IT, some of the people are from Ala and Ga - also this deed has the following under 'chain of title' Grantor-United States. Williams Entry: Dated June 29, 1840, Set aside to eastee Char Co Chopko, a chief under Creek Treaty 1832 Enters: Entire Sec. 12, Tp. 19 North, R. 26 East, of the St Stephens Meridian, In Alabama, containing 642.48 acres. Relinquish and quit Claim, Dated June 4, 1912, Filed May 28, 1932, Lee County, Alabama, Deed Book 197/Page 522 AN ACT OF CONGRESS OF UNITED STATES Recites among other things as follows: An act of relinguish, release, quit claim all right, title and interest of the United States of America in and to all the lands held under claim or color of title by individuals or private ownership, or municipal ownership situated in the State of Alabama, which were researved, retained or set apart to or for the Creek Tribe or Nation of Indians, under or by virtue of the treaty entered into between the United States on March 24, 1832, and under and by virtue of the treaty of the United States of America and the Creek Tribe or Nation of Indians on August 9, 1814. That the true intent of this act is hereby declared to be to concede and abondon all right, title and interest of the United States to those persons, title and interest or corporations who would be the true and lawful owners of the lands under the laws of Alabama, including the laws of prescription, in the absence of said interest, title and estate of the United States. NOTE: This act approved June 4, 1912 (I believe that this is when they took the land away from the Creeks) Then it list all the owners from 1866 to 1947 when my dad bought part of it.I have tried to find information on Chief Char Co Chopko but have had not luck.
