This obituary was taken from the St. Clair Times, Thursday August 31, 2006. Lillie Ann Briscoe Arab--Lillie Ann Briscoe, 51, went to be with her Lord Thursday, Aug. 17, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Aug. 24, 1954, in the old Arab Hospital to J.B. & Edith Briscoe. She attended Auburn University where she met Richard Ervin Robbins and they were married at Ruth Baptist Church in Arab on June 15, 1975. They were in the U.S. Army stationed at Redstone Arsenal and moved to Arab in 1980. She was a homemaker, custom seamstree in her business "The Fitte Shoppe" where she designed and made dance, drum major, color guard costumes and pageant dresses. Lillie Ann designed and made an Alabama State Flag that was 40 x 60 yards which was used by Arab High School and the University of Alabama Million Dollar Marching Band during half time performances. She loved to read, work on the farm with her cows, cut hay and help her brother, Raymond, in his chicken houses. She had fought many valiant battles with cancer and other medical complications in Arab, Birmingham, & Houston, TX, hospitals since 1996. She chose to be a fighter with a smile on her lips for her family, fri! ends and visitors. She is survived by her beloved husband Richard Ervin Robbins; daughter, Vona Sue Robbins; son-in-law, D.J. Harris; grandchildren, Richard John Michael Harris and Dakota Rei Harris; father, J.B. Briscoe; mother, Edith Briscoe; brother, Raymond Dale Briscoe, sister- in-law, Martha Robbins Chesser of Douglasville, Ga; Jerri Lynn Briscoe of Arab; brother-in-law Carl W. Robbins and wife Sue Robbins of Centre; special niece and nephew, Andra Lee Briscoe and Benjamin Dale Briscoe of Arab; numerous nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Hazel and Calvin Ralph, Sonnie & Joe Briscoe, Thelma Willis, Doc Briscoe, Pat Weber, Maggie & Kenn Payton, Harold and Al Hall, Ray and Mary Hall, and Rev. Clarence Coker. She was preceded in death by brother, John Burr Briscoe Jr.; and an infant sister, Linda Sue Briscoe; father and mother-in-law John Victor Chesser of Douglasville, GA; grandparents, Emmett and Lillie Mae Briscoe of Arab and Phillip Edward and Martha Ann Hall of Cuba, MS. Pallbearers were Clyde Edward Weber, John Junior Fulliam, Lt. David Hyatt, Jimmy Briscoe, John Elbert Briscoe, Travis Casey, Tony Ralph, Lafer Ralph, Travis Briscoe, Mike Payton, Larry Casey, and Benjamin Briscoe. Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. at Ruth Baptist Church and burial at Mt. Oak Cemetery on Ruth Road in Arab. The Rev. Wayne Canfield, the Rev. Clifford Tinley and Lt. Colonel Chaplain Coy Hallmark officiated. Flowers or donations to Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation for Cncer Research are appreciated. Gober Funeral Home in Arab directed the services.
