This obituary was taken from the St. Clair Times, Thursday September 7, 2006. Jesse Barnes Clem Pell City-Funeral services for Jesse Barnes Clem, 77, were Friday, Sept. 1, at Eden Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jacky Connell and the Rev. Bill Ayres officiating. Interment was in Hardins Capel Cemetery. Mr. Clem died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Barnes and Minnie Payne Clem, brothers, Grover, Claude, and John Clem; sisters Ida Lee Curd and Bessie Edge; and son, Wallace Usrey. Mr. Clem was a lifelong resident of St. Clair County. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a WWII Veteran. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to John and Melissa Herron, James Baggett, The Bill Nichols State Veterans Home Staff and Nurses, Southern Care Hospice, and Kilgroe Funeral Home for their many acts of love and kindness shown to our family during our time of need. He is survived by his wife, Edna Talley Clem; daughters, Teresa Belcher, Rhonda Rogers, Belinda Jowers, Robin (Doug) Pike, Pat Usrey, Ruth Dement, Charlotte Carr, Joyce (Same) Yancey, and Teresa (Scott) Bradshaw; sons, Steve Clem, Ryan Clem, David (Earnestine) Clem; Gene Clem, Harold (Helen) Usrey, Glenn (Sabina) Usrey; 30 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and two nieces Helen Bryant and Mildred (Doug) Ford. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 1, from 11 a.m. until service time at the Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the building fund at Eden Westside Baptist Church, 223 Wolf Creek Rd N., Pell city, Al 35125. Pallbearers were family and friends. Honorary pallbearers were the Liberty Sunday School Class of Eden Westside Baptist Church. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City directed the services.
