This was in the St. Clair Times, St. Clair Co. AL., Thursday Dec. 14, 2006. Gordon Thompson Cropwell-- Gordon Thompson, 86, of Cropwell, passed away on Monday. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent Protective Order of The Elks, Roebuck Chapter 2123. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and a WWII Veteran. He became a U.S. citizen in 1958. He was preceded in death by his wife, May Jack Thompson and his son, John Edward Thompson. Survivors include his children, Larry Thompson and wife, Ann of Huntsville and Jim Thompson of Big Cove; brother, Jim Thompson of Windsor, Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. The graveside service was at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, Trussville. The Rev. Deacon Rob Iler officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or Hospice Family Care, 3304 Westmill Drive, Huntsville, Al 35805.
