In Memory of Madge Buffington Burttram who was a great friend and the most conscientious "VOICE OF STEELE." She was born October 10, 1910, thus 10 10 10. Madge was always proud of being "Three Tens!" She was always proud to be a Buffington and that her mail delivering husband (Ben) could help her keep up with the gossip in and around Steele. She and her sister Vivian researched the history of Steele and shared their findings with all of us. Their books and columns kept that history alive for many of us. She was proud to be descended from the Beasons, with both her Grandfather and Grandmother coming from Beason homes. I started subscribing to the Aegis many years ago just to get her Steele News columns. I have been very sad to see that column dropped at her death. Surely someone in Steele could pick up that task. Madge would be so proud!! Please take a minute with me to remember a proud, beautiful lady who was a friend to everyone whom she met! I'm sure that she and Vivian are wandering around Heaven with pad and pen in hand looking for some new tidbit of Ole Steele Station with it's depot, telephone center, sawmill, cotton gin, grist mill and general stores! Can you name them all? George Beason Boerne, TX.
