I do have a John M. Odom in my file. He was born about 1871, possibly in Alabama. If this is your line, I have him as the son of Thomas Lawson Odom, born about 1825 in Alabama and Lucinda Milstead, born about 1824 in Georgia. His siblings were Patrick H., Cyrus W., Lula M., Nelly, Thomas L., and William E. Odom. Although this hasn't been proven, I believe Thomas Lawson Odom was the son of Aaron Jacob Odom, Sr. born about 1801 in Emanuel Co., Georgia died in 1886 in Baldwin Co., Alabama, and Unknown, plus he was the younger brother of my ancestor, William H. Odom and the older brother of Richard Odom. All were born in Alabama. Their father, Aaron Jacob Odom, Sr. was married a second time to a Kisiah Unknown, born about 1798, and they had five more children, Aaron Jacob, Elvira, Kisiah J., Malinda, and Wesley Odom and I believe they were all born in Alabama. Let me know if this looks like a match. Looking! forward to hearing from you. Gloria

I just saw your note & I have Ancestry.com, so I looked up your ancester Ervie Akins (the father), & found him--Ervie & his son Jesse J. Akin as each being "roomer"s on the 1930 census, In Brimingham (city), Jefferson County, AL living just the 2 of them in a house hold without the mother & Ervie in 1930 is listed as Widowed, so Edna has passed away by 1930. The child, Jesse J is listed as 13 in 1930 (so born 1917). The father Ervie is listed as 37 in 1930, so birth year abt. 1893. If you know all this, sorry! They are living in the house with a 37 yr. old female named Jewel Pindle/Pendle, also a boarder (could Ervie have had a second wife? This may not be your part of the line to follow!) & the Head of that household with these boarders is a man named, Jefferson P Swift, aged 62. If I have a chance I look again to see if you go back to the 1920 census maybe you can find the mother Edna with them & still living. If Jesse J is born in 1917 then I'd think you'd need to look for their marrige around 1915 (unless there are children older than Jesse J). Maybe this little bit will help you be able to search something better; good luck in your search & all Gods Blessings. PS--All my mother's people are from St Clair Cty AL so the surnames are mine incase some else sees it & can help me! Sincerely--Rise" Vandiver
