    3. Etienne, I am greatly appreciative of your quick response and translation! My very basic French/German knowledge did provide translation some of the information (along with help from the appropriate French/English or German/English dictionaries!), but your translation gave me a lot more information than I ever would have been able to ascertain on my own. I have seen your responses to so many listers; you provide us witha lot of help that no doubt would be very difficult for us to obtain and for this, I and I am sure every other person you've helped, am extremely grateful. I wish I could be helpful to others on the list and hope that the site I used is one that perhaps others researching in this area of France were unaware of and thus, maybe I was able to help someone somewhere. I know I have spent hours looking through the various communities and documents and have found numerous family namesin the few towns of which I am aware were residences of my ancestors.
