Hello: I am leaving for France on April 19th and will spend a week in Lorraine trying to do some research on my family (Chambrey/Chambre/Schambre) for the period 1700 to approx 1770. I have found several places to visit but I'm wondering if there is a volunteer researcher on this alsace-lorraine rootsweb site that specializes in the villages of Guebling and Benesdorf? I have been in touch with Charles Amann and he has put me in touch with a friend of his who may be able to help me on-site, but I was wondering if there are other researchers who might give me some pointers on where to go for the best outcome. So far, I'm planning on visiting (1) Cercle Genealogique in Clemenceau (this is apparently only open on tuesdays so that is when I plan on being there) and (2) Commune De Sarreguemines - Archives Municpales in Sarreguemines. If there are other places, perhaps with more information, that I could visit, I would appreciate any suggestions. If there are other researchers there ! that help with this type of search, I'd appreciate knowing names and contact info as well. Thanks for all for any ideas, thoughts, hints, etc. I'm excited about having the opportunity to actually be there and do some research. John Schambre San Francisco
