Joan, Thanks for the info. This is the man and wife I am a descendant of and am searching. The only census report info I could find just listed Germany as the birthplace for both. To now know a city/region name helps a ton. I am on my way back to Nebraska in 2 weeks to head to the courthouse to search records. Hopefully I'll find something there. They both list Baden as their birth place. Joseph is 46 and Julia is 24 and they were married, according to the census, Feb 1870. It would help if you could provide some more information, anything, even if it approximated for the listers to help you.
