And thus the names are different. One of those is wrong, Schiffly not Schiftly. 1. Michael Lehmann 2. Antoni Heisserer 3. Christian Schiffly 4. Antoni Hahn Not sure why Heusserer is spelled Heisserer, unless the recorder actually got it wrong, or spelled by sound. Not sure which spelling you prefer to use here. I, personally take the signatures of clearly literate folk when in doubt and I don't have significant data to suggest otherwise. But spelling of names is a variant thing back in the day. Even today it happens. My daughter has chosen an alternate spelling of her first name in honor of the saint from whom it is based.

    3. Here I am again asking for more help in translation. So many of you have so gracious in helping me. I have been working on gathering information on my Lehmann family for over 45y. My hubby and I even made a trip to Haguenau and Strasburg a number of years ago when I was much younger, only to find out on returning home that I should have been searching in Schirrhein. So I am so excited in being able to see these records that a lady has been sending me and very grateful for all the help with translation. Audrey (Lehmann-Shields) Hancock This appears to be the Birth Record for Catharina Lehmann dau/o Michel Lehmann and his 2nd wife, Catherine Schmitter http://tinyurl.com/b6y6r8c
